Jay Cheng - Advocacy Efforts with Neighbors for a Better San Francisco

Jay Cheng directs Neighbors for a Better San Francisco, delivering community leadership to address the needs of residents overlooked by elected officials and municipal authorities. He actively seeks to tackle persistent issues related to safety, education, law enforcement, and homelessness. In addition, Jay Cheng encourages fiscal accountability, and his team helped orchestrate a successful 2022 election recall effort focused on San Francisco School Board members and the then-District Attorney.

Mr. Cheng has experience as Deputy Government Affairs Director with the San Francisco Association of Realtors. He has an extensive understanding of housing and land-use challenges within a space-constrained urban environment. Working closely with the city's public policy director, Mr. Cheng also spearheaded legislative initiatives that supported local businesses, employers, and residents. He guided fundraising efforts that promoted new residential developments.

His resume also includes a past role as public policy director with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, where Mr. Cheng advocated for city ballot measures. He is an active member of the Asian Pacific Democratic Club and participates in various cultural activities throughout the Bay Area.
